Preseason
November, 2001
November 23, 2001
This is the day we picked up the new car (called "The 86" so we don't get confused) from Leroy's shed. We took it home and put it in the shop, where we started tearing it apart.
December, 2001
December 1-31
Throught the month of December we kept on tearing the car apart, taking every piece apart to it's simplest components. We wanted to make sure everything was ok. New Year's Eve we repainted the front clip a blue similar to the rest of the frame.
Janurary
Janurary 1-31
Janurary was the transition month from tearing things apart to putting things back together. We also built a lot of things to put in the car at this time.
February
February 1-28
Suspension was the main worry of the month. We played around with it for the better part of 3 weeks.
March
March 1-31
The car finally started to look like a car again, whith the body going on and getting painted, along with all the other major parts.
April
April 1-12
Putting the finishing touches on the car. The stickers were put on the car, and they look good. Thanks to Precision Graphics for that.
April 13
This was the first practice day. We couldn't go out, however. We had to make a good excuse up so Leroy would go to his birthday party, and not the track.
April 20
The first time we went out to test the car. It went great, and we were the fastest car out there that day.
April 27
Opening day, or so we thought. It was so crappy, they called the races by Noon.

The season got off to a good start this week, with wins in both the heat and the feature. The night started out on a bad note with a qualifying time of 15.02, 9th quick. The heat was a squeaker, only getting passed the #37 with 2 laps to go, after a 5 lap battle. When feature time rolled around, we were lined up outside row 3. The indside couldn’t get going, so by the time the first caution came out on lap 2, we were running 3rd. The second place car, the #52, was quickly passed and the chase began. The race was interrupted by brief cautions on laps 22 and 43, the latter which made the end of the race interesting- and close. But we held on for our first win of the year, and hopefully, not our last.
